Frequently Asked Questions

PEO Brokerage

What is a PEO, and how is that different from working with a broker?
A PEO (Professional Employer Organization) is a co-employment arrangement where a third-party organization handles HR, payroll, benefits administration, and compliance on behalf of your business. Unlike a traditional broker who simply places your coverage, a PEO becomes a co-employer for administrative purposes, giving small and mid-size businesses access to Fortune 500-level benefits at group rates. A&C Management Group acts as your independent PEO broker: we evaluate every major PEO in the market, negotiate on your behalf, and recommend the best fit with no allegiance to any single vendor.
How much can my business actually save on medical insurance?
Most of our clients save between 15-30% on their medical insurance costs after switching to a PEO or renegotiating their current arrangement. Savings vary based on your company size, current carrier, employee demographics, and state. We provide a no-obligation analysis before you commit to anything.
What size company can use a PEO?
PEOs are most effective for companies with 5 to 500 employees, though some PEOs specialize in businesses as small as 1-4 employees or as large as 1,000+. The sweet spot is typically 10-150 employees - the range where the cost savings and administrative relief are most impactful.
What states does A&C Management Group serve?
For PEO advisory, we work with businesses across all 50 states. For direct insurance licensing, A&C Management holds licenses in New York, Connecticut, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Massachusetts, Maryland, New Jersey, New Mexico, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and Vermont. For businesses with employees in other states, we coordinate coverage through our carrier and PEO partner networks.
What happens during the initial consultation?
We start by understanding your current setup: how many employees you have, what benefits you're offering today, what you're paying, and what's not working. From there we run a comprehensive, multi-factor analysis of your options and present a clear comparison - no pressure, no obligation.
How long has A&C Management Group been in business?
A&C Management Group was founded in 2002 in Great Neck, NY. Our founder Daniel Nessim brings over 30 years of personal experience in PEO brokerage, employee benefits consulting, and insurance advisory.
How is A&C Management Group paid, and what's the catch?
We are compensated by the PEO or carrier you ultimately select, similar to how a real estate buyer's agent is paid by the seller. There is no catch: our incentive is to find you the best fit, because our long-term business depends on clients who stay and refer others. We disclose our compensation structure upfront.
Is my information safe if I fill out your questionnaire?
Yes. We use it solely to understand your situation and give you a relevant, useful answer, not to sell your information or add you to unrelated marketing lists. See our Privacy Policy for details.

Corporate Benefits

What's included in a corporate benefits package?
A complete corporate benefits package typically includes group health insurance (medical, dental, vision), life insurance, short and long-term disability, and optional executive coverages like key-man insurance, buy-sell funding, and long-term care. A&C evaluates your entire benefits package and negotiates every line item.
How does A&C negotiate better rates than going direct to a carrier?
We bring volume across our entire book of business to every carrier conversation. That leverage, combined with 30 years of C-level relationships at the major carriers, lets us negotiate pricing, plan design, and service terms that a single employer rarely achieves on their own.
What happens at renewal time?
We conduct a full MLR (Medical Loss Ratio) analysis before renewal, challenge any unjustified rate increases, and re-market your case to competing carriers if the incumbent's renewal isn't competitive. You never just accept a renewal number without knowing whether the market can do better.
Do you handle billing issues and claims support?
Yes. Ongoing service is built into what we do: billing reconciliation, carrier escalations, claims advocacy, and employee questions are all handled by our team. You don't get handed off to a call center after the sale.
Which states do you serve for corporate benefits?
A&C Management holds direct insurance licenses in New York, Connecticut, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Massachusetts, Maryland, New Jersey, New Mexico, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and Vermont. For businesses with employees in other states, we coordinate coverage through our carrier and PEO partner networks.

Individual Insurance

Why would a business owner need individual insurance on top of a group plan?
Group plans are designed for the average employee. They often leave gaps for owners and executives, particularly around disability income, long-term care, and life insurance with living benefits. Individual policies fill those gaps and stay with you regardless of what happens to the business.
What types of individual insurance does A&C handle?
Life insurance (term, whole, universal - including living benefits), disability income, long-term care, and supplemental coverages like critical illness and hospital indemnity. For individual health insurance and personal lines like home, auto, and valuables, we have trusted specialist partners we can refer you to.
Can you help me navigate the individual health insurance market?
For individual health insurance, we work with a trusted partner who specializes in this market. We'll connect you with them directly and stay involved to make sure you're pointed in the right direction.
Which states do you serve for individual insurance?
A&C Management holds direct insurance licenses in New York, Connecticut, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Massachusetts, Maryland, New Jersey, New Mexico, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and Vermont.

HRIS Platform Advisory

What is an HRIS and does my business need one?
An HRIS (Human Resources Information System) centralizes employee data, payroll, benefits administration, compliance reporting, and time tracking in one platform. If you're managing these in spreadsheets or disconnected tools, an HRIS typically pays for itself quickly in time saved and error reduction.
Do you recommend a specific platform?
We take a vendor-neutral approach to evaluation: the recommendation is always based on what fits your business, not what's easiest to sell. Rippling is our most frequently recommended all-in-one platform for businesses that want HR, payroll, IT, and benefits in a single system. We'll tell you honestly when a different platform is a better fit.
How does HRIS selection connect to our PEO or benefits setup?
The right HRIS needs to integrate cleanly with your PEO or payroll provider and your benefits carriers. We evaluate platforms through that lens, so you don't end up with a system that creates more manual work than it eliminates.
What does A&C's HRIS advisory include?
Needs assessment, vendor evaluation, implementation support alongside your IT and HR teams, and post-launch troubleshooting. We stay involved through go-live, not just through the sale.
